Finding Special Asthma Programs and Services



The Baltimore City Health Department offers a childhood asthma program that provides care coordination and home visiting to high-risk children with asthma, who are referred by pediatricians, school staff or others.  The asthma program is free and children ages 2-18 are eligible to join.

The University of Maryland Breathmobile is a custom-built pediatric asthma and allergy clinic that travels to almost two dozen schools. Since 2005, the Breathmobile has been providing ongoing asthma and allergy care to children.  Once onboard the children are given a comprehensive evaluation, testing and treatment. This evaluation can include the following: asthma focused history and physical, lung function testing, allergy skin testing, asthma education, medications, asthma devices and case management services. The Breathmobile has provided ongoing preventive asthma care to more than 800 children.
